About the job
This position will participate and support the scheduling and trading team’s efforts regarding all aspects of ACES customer portfolio optimization. Responsibilities will include the areas of; trade strategy development, transaction execution, generation asset management, load projections and energy scheduling. The processes and procedures surrounding this environment will be reviewed, developed and supported by this position.

Required Qualifications

  • Candidate should possess a college degree in an appropriate discipline with at least 2 years of experience in direct wholesale energy marketplace interaction.
  • Direct experience at buying and selling energy commodities including; physical and financial energy, ancillary services.
  • Experience with managing generation assets in the structured markets, including development of offer curves, unit parameters, and ancillary service offerings.
  • Firm understanding of transmission related products (CRRs, available within ERCOT.
  • Demonstrated skills in deal origination and price negotiation within the wholesale energy markets.
  • Worked with short term portfolio optimization models and capable of demonstrating the fundamental understanding of model results to applied trading strategies.
  • Ability to develop and maintain a strong network of marketing and trading counter parties.
  • Working knowledge of risk management including risk mitigation fundamentals.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the operating procedures and requirements within ERCOT and/or the various ISO’s and RTO’s and interconnected regions as defined by (NERC).
  • Competence with mathematics, commercial marketing, fuels conversion and technical concepts.
  • Understanding of energy hedging and portfolio management concepts and instruments.
  • High degree of analytical, problem solving and conceptual skills.
  • Effective written skills that will be applied to writing recommendations to clients and internal reports to upper management. Effective oral communication skills that will be applied to presenting recommendations to ACES clients.
  • Proficient with computers and Microsoft products such as Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Series 3, National Commodity Futures Examination, qualified in past 2 years OR will sit for the Series 3 after hired.
