 The Opportunities

Senior Consultant – ERCOT at Customized Energy Solutions in TX-71, Austin, TX, USA

Customized Energy Solutions is a fast-growing and successful energy services and consulting company. The primary responsibilities for this position are to attend and participate in ERCOT and related Texas Market stakeholder meetings and, within days of each meeting, write succinct reports, with analysis where appropriate, on important presentations, announcements, discussions, and other developments from those meetings for internal and external clients. Qualified candidates for this position will be able to work independently and collaboratively, and will possess strong communication  and analytical skills.

Position Responsibilities

  • Market IQ service
    • Attend and participate in stakeholder meetings and, within days of each meeting, write succinct reports, with analysis where appropriate, on important presentations, announcements, discussions, and other developments from those meetings for internal and external clients.
    • As appropriate, tailor reporting and analysis according to clients’ commercial interests (e.g., generation, transmission, load, trading) and according to financial, policy, legal, and technical perspectives and considerations.
    • Independently identify and define issues according to clients’ commercial interests.
    • Recommend appropriate courses of action according to clients’ commercial interests
    • Provide “real-time” reporting and analysis on developments with immediate and significant commercial impacts on clients
    • Work closely with clients and stay familiar with their interests by addressing clients’ questions in a timely manner and conducting regular (monthly, quarterly) conference calls.
  • Consulting service
    • Initiate and support consulting projects related to ERCOT and the Texas Energy Market and other RTO/ISO markets and operations
  • Travel
    • Periodic trips to attend ERCOT and Client/Potential Client meetings or to HQ in Philadelphia
QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum five (5) years energy industry experience required
  • Relevant college degree or equivalent experience required
  • Relevant graduate degree or advanced industry training preferred
  • Knowledge of RTO/ISO energy, operating reserves, capacity, and FTR markets required
  • Knowledge of RTO/ISO transmission planning and generation interconnection processes preferred
  • Strong ERCOT and related Texas Energy Market knowledge/experience required
  • Strong writing skills required
  • Experience writing under tight deadlines preferred
  • Strong analytical/quantitative skills and experience required
  • Strong verbal and public presentation skills preferred
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively required
  • Business development orientation preferred
Sr. Consultant, Market Intelligence – Wholesale Energy & Capacity Markets (West) at Customized Energy Solutions in Folsom, CA, USA
JOB DESCRIPTION

The primary responsibilities for this position are to attend and participate in California Independent System Operator (CAISO) and related CAISO Western Energy Imbalance Market (CAISO EIM) or the Southwest Power Pool (SPP) Western Energy Imbalance Service (SPP WEIS) or SPP Markets Plus (SPP M+) stakeholder meetings (collectively the “Markets”) and, within days of each meeting, write succinct reports, with analysis where appropriate, on important presentations, announcements, discussions, and other developments from those meetings for internal and external clients.  The responsibilities will also include participation in market analysis projects focused on the Markets, but possibly involving other areas of the deregulated energy markets.  This position may also require support in the development of settlement reports, monitoring tools, and other methods of assisting clients in maximizing efficiency and revenue in the Markets.  Qualified candidates for this position will be able to work independently and collaboratively and will possess strong communication and analytical skills.
