NAEMA Announces New Executive Director

Published:October 14, 2021

As previously announced, Steve Sheppard plans to retire as NAEMA’s Executive Director at the end of the year.  Please join me in thanking Steve for his leadership throughout his tenure as Executive Director and his exceptional efforts guiding the organization through unprecedented, and uniquely difficult circumstances during this pandemic and ongoing recovery.  Steve will work “behind the scenes” through the 2022 Spring Conference to ensure a smooth transition to the new Executive Director.

Accordingly, it gives me great pleasure to announce that Mr. Tim Berrigan will become NAEMA’s 3rd Executive Director, effective January 1, 2022.  I am sure many NAEMA members and other market participants know Tim from his many years in the energy markets and involvement in energy infrastructure projects.

About Tim…
Tim’s thirty-six-year career in the energy industry has involved participation in energy markets and energy infrastructure projects.  Tim has closed generation and load side transactions in all of the eastern power markets and ERCOT.  As an executive at Mirant, he had responsibility for the development of thousands of megawatts of gas fired generation in the eastern United States and Texas.   Tim’s extensive knowledge of the energy industry stems from his career which began as an engineer at Southern Company subsidiary Georgia Power and transitioned to their merchant affiliate Southern Energy.  He later worked with DTE Energy Trading, then Decker Energy, and has served as an executive consultant and expert witness.

Tim holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering (cooperative plan) from The Georgia Institute of Technology.

Please join me in welcoming Tim as NAEMA’s new Executive Director!
