NAEMA Members and Interested Parties,
Steve Sheppard, NAEMA’s Executive Director, has announced his plans to retire at the end of the year. He will remain on-board through the end of the year to ensure a smooth transition to the new Executive Director. We hope to see Steve around, perhaps lending a hand at conferences and behind the scenes to help ensure NAEMA’s success.
The NAEMA Board of Directors has initiated a search for qualified candidates to replace Steve as Executive Director. We would like to identify and seat a new Executive Director prior to NAEMA’s 2021 Fall Conference in October. The Executive Director is the Chief Operating Officer of NAEMA, and reports to a twelve-person Board elected by NAEMA members. The Executive Director has all powers and duties necessary for managing the day-to-day operating and business affairs of NAEMA and directing the activities prescribed by the Board. Qualified candidates should have extensive experience and personal contacts within the energy marketing industry, recognize and promote the value of business relationships in energy marketing, and professionally balance the competing interests of a diverse membership base. The Executive Director is responsible for identifying and promoting NAEMA’s role in the evolving energy marketplace. The Executive Director is an independent contractor rather than an employee of NAEMA (i.e., no benefits are provided), is to have no conflicts of interest within the energy industry, and should be available to begin duties on or around October 1, 2021, or as mutually agreed.
