About Key Capture Energy, LLC

Key Capture Energy identifies, develops, constructs and operates energy storage solutions to foster greater deployment of renewable energy, create a more stable electric grid, and provide value to all ratepayers.  We comprehensively study the grid for geographically and electrically beneficial market opportunities and research and select the best technology solutions to meet the needs of an evolving energy landscape. We efficiently construct and effectively operate large-scale energy storage projects today that will transition us to the grid of tomorrow. We have a growing portfolio of energy storage projects in various stages of development in New York, Texas and across the United States.

A large-scale energy storage independent power producer (IPP), Key Capture Energy was founded in 2016 to develop new projects that would serve the electric grid in New York and surrounding northeastern states. Led by New York Governor Andrew Cuomo’s clean energy goals of 100% clean energy by 2030, New York has the largest energy storage target per capita recorded yet by any state. In September of 2019, Key Capture Energy completed the first project under the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority’s (NYSERDA) energy storage incentive program, KCE NY 1. Following that, our KCE NY 11 project received an energy storage incentive award from NYSERDA in January of 2020. As energy storage is gaining a foothold at the forefront of the energy industry, we have expanded our efforts and now have a portfolio of projects in various stages of development across North America and are on track to install multiple projects in 2020. Texas has led the nation for years in installed wind capacity and solar is becoming the state’s fastest-growing electricity source, making the quick response of battery storage a cost-effective solution to provide grid resiliency across the entire Texas footprint. Our Texas energy storage projects help meet Texas’ growing electricity demand.
