Northern States Power Company, doing business as Xcel Energy, has submitted a letter to inform the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission and interested stakeholders of our planned Request for Proposals (RFP) for solar generation resources interconnecting at our Sherburne County generating facility site. NSP is moving forward with proposed plans to procure a large-scale solar generation facility (or facilities) totaling approximately 500MW that will be able to re-use interconnection service made available when our Sherco 2 coal unit is taken out of service. We plan to follow the Commission-approved Modified Track 2 solicitation process for this RFP, which will launch on or around January 4, 2021 with bids to be submitted approximately one month later. We are providing pre-notice of this RFP in order to provide additional time for potential interested parties to prepare their bids.
