The North American Energy Markets Association is posting this RFP on behalf of our member The Energy Authority and their client LaPlata Electric Association (LPEA).
La Plata Electric Association (LPEA) is a member-owned electric distribution cooperative serving La Plata and Archuleta, with segments of Hinsdale, Mineral, and San Juan counties in Colorado.
LPEA is currently a full-requirements customer of Tri-State Generation and Transmission Cooperative (Tri-State) and will remain so until its withdrawal April 1, 2026. Following its withdrawal, LPEA will be responsible for supplying its own wholesale power needs. LPEA is seeking long-term generation assets to meet its energy and capacity needs while also achieving its environmental goals and adherence to regulatory requirements. LPEA will consider a variety of wholesale power offtake structures including, but not limited to partial-requirements, block power, and offtake from new and existing resources.
